Read my personal opinions on the best neighbourhoods to live in the capital of the Antioquia region.
Medellin is my favourite city in Colombia!
There are many places to visit, and it’s incredible how many things the city can offer.
Although, one of the questions I get asked most from Expats is: “Which is the best Barrio to live in Medellin?”
Of course, everything depends on the lifestyle and daily routine.
In my opinion, El Tesoro and Milla de Oro, located in El Poblado, (which represent the principal touristic area of the city) are great spots for people who want to fully live the Social and Expats life of the city.
It must also be considered, that as digital nomads, we often like to connect face to face with the locals; in this sense, some less touristy places to live in Medellin are certainly:
- Envigado: Great residential area immersed in the nature of the city.
- Guayabal: Just 15min from Poblado, you can live the Medellin local neighbour lifestyle while remaining close to El Poblado.
- Laureles: One of my favourite barrios. Great nightlife made up of salsa and local restaurants; affordable prices of accommodation and fewer tourists around.
And you? Have you ever visited Medellin? If so, what was your favourite barrio?
