I visited Mazunte for the first time in 2022 during my first trip to Mexico. At that time I was with a friend and we camped on the beach for a couple of nights. I remember that the village had already struck me with its almost fairy-tale tranquillity. It expressed a hippie atmosphere from another era in which time seemed to have stopped.
How to get to Mazunte and Zipolite from Puerto Escondido?
From Puerto Escondido, you can take a bus from the company Delfines and stop at the Oxxo in San Antonio, it will cost around 60 pesos. Then you need to get on a collectivo that will take you to Mazute in 15 minutes for 15 pesos and to Zipolite in 30 minutes for 20 pesos.
In 2024 I went back for a solo trip and I stayed for about three weeks. Initially, I was supposed to stay for a week but then I kept postponing my departure. The days passed quickly between sports on the beach, reading and breathtaking sunsets.
